Clearing Cache & extra files
If your systems seems slow or sluggish, you may want to clear out your cache, cookies and any other annoying temp files that pile up on your system. There are a couple different ways to do this.
| Go to the START button on the lower left of your screen. Click on it once. |
| Go to PROGRAMS. When you place your cursor over PROGRAMS it opens up another menu. Scroll over to the new menu and go to ACCESSORIES. |
| When you place your cursor on ACCESSORIES it opens another menu. Scroll over to the new menu and place your cursor over SYSTEM TOOLS. |
| From the menu in SYSTEM TOOLS go to DISK CLEANUP. |
This will open a box that asks you what drive you want to clean. (Typically it is your "C" drive.) When you click on OK it then opens another window that asks you what files you want to clean up. You have your choice to choose all Temporary Internet Files, Temp Files, Recycle Bin, Downloaded program files... and others. You may also go to advanced options.

De-Fragment : Generalized Instructions, some operating systems are slightly different
Before you start any system maintenance, it is best to shut down any unnecessary programs.
Microsoft® Utilities are built into your system. Follow these steps to help keep your system running properly.
It is recommended run these utilities at least once a month. You may want to run a scan disk and defrag after you remove or add large program files. You should do the following:
1. Shut down any unnecessary programs
2. Run Scan Disk first (this takes about 5 or 10 minutes)
3. Run Disk Defragmenter only after Scan Disk has completed.
